About Me
Hi, my name is Steve and this is a blog about making money. Now wait, before you hit the back button, I realize that there are just about a billion blogs out there that have started out with the same intro. Most of those sites are fairly lame, to be honest. In fact, I have yet to find any good information from any more than a handful. Most are useless due to the fact that they provide little content while bombarding the visitor with ads for every conceivable product on the planet. In short, there isn’t much you can take away unless you pay for it – and even then, there’s no guarantee.
Okay, now that I’ve bashed the competition a little, I’ll let you in on why this blog is different and why you should stay for a bit.
First of all, you should know that I’m not qualified to dole out advice of a financial or legal nature. Everything I write about will simply be my opinion, and nothing more. There is no guarantee that you will take away anything of value here, or that any techniques will create any kind of financial return. This is important – be sure you understand this.
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, a little about me:
I live in the Toronto area in Ontario, Canada
Male
47 years old
Self-employed
Former cubicle dweller
I earn a living from multiple sources – all self-employed income
I will never work for anyone ever again
I enjoy having control over my day – to do with as I wish
I’m not wealthy, but I have something many people wish for: Time and complete freedom.
I have learned that life is short and wage slavery prevents many of us from enjoying it fully.
I could bore you with the rest of my personal stats, but that would be inhumane.
So what qualifies me to talk about making money? Well, nothing, except for the fact that I’ve been chasing the self-employed/financial freedom carrot since I graduated school. Making money has always, and still does, occupy my thoughts most of the time.
Well, actually, it’s the concept of complete financial freedom that is most appealing. I don’t want to be rich, but I do want to be free.
Spending a tremendous amount of money over the years looking for that perfect break – my golden ticket, so to speak, taught me that there are no short cuts or miracle methods to starting a successful business and making money – Having said that, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a business opportunity junky.
For well over 20 years, I have been a regular consumer of the kind of business opportunities you see in business start-up magazines. I suppose I’m a sucker for a well written, compelling sales page. I needed to check out every new offer that came alone for fear that I’d miss out on the system that would finally take me out of the 9-5 grind and into financial freedom.
As if that weren’t enough, I also subscribed to every single “business opportunity” magazine out there. 20 years of monthly subscriptions is a lot of paper and a lot of money.
Though I never hit on the right business that would allow me to retire wealthy, I did pick up a lot of info on how to get a business off the ground. As a result, I have personally started more businesses than anyone I know. It seemed that I was always at the government center registering the “big one” that would allow me to live the lifestyle I wanted. As with many things in life, the enthusiasm was short lived, and then I’d be on to my next idea.
Now, I have had several businesses generate a good profit for me – and to this day, I continue to run some of the better ones.
Of course, I’m leaving a lot out here – after all, I need something to write about later. I will be talking about this and dozens of other topics and business ideas in the form of daily blog posts.
I hope you find this site informative and helpful. I’ll be touching on all kinds of business start-up ideas and offering up practical advice. Most of the businesses I’ll talk about will be low cost, start-from-scratch start-ups because that’s where most of my experience has been. So expect to see everything from window cleaning, to dog walking, to online business opportunities. The common theme will be practical, low-cost, everyday businesses that anyone can start now – regardless of your experience.
This website will benefit anyone that has always dreamed of business ownership and the freedom that it provides.
Oh, one more thing: You can expect this blog to be written in a very informal manner. I’ve got more of a conversational style to my writing and while my old English teacher would cringe, I find that it is more effective for the web by being less structured.
That’s about it for now. I have a lot of info to share so I hope to have something for you each and every day.
To your success
Steve
